screw you, ny times

the cover of today's new york times is just ridiculous. seriously, can the editors be a little more insensitive? of all the horrible things happening in the world at the moment, it's just dumb to dredge up photos from 2001 and put the text of haunting 911 calls on the front page. sure, the story deserves some cover...but why is the darfur genocide in the new york times magazine (safely in the middle of the paper, not catching anybody's eye) while this old but sensational shit is on the front? for those of us (and there are a LOT of us in nyc) for whom these pics represent things we saw with our own eyes out our bedroom and office windows, there is no need to revisit the images. we know what it looks like. at least for me, i wish there was a way to erase that part of my memory. so, i'd just like to say to the editors at the times, thank you for ruining my saturday morning. i'll kindly cancel my subscription.

this is indeed tasteless and something i would expect from something like the NY Post or Daily News, not the NY times. i'm sorry that it ruined your day and i know how much you and others have struggled with sorting out your feelings from that event and the aftermath. wish i could be there to give you a big hug.
